Dear Anonymous - The purpose of this blog is to raise awareness of the powers of neodymium magnets (NIB magnets). Not every video highlighted here demonstrates that they can kill. A video that talks about a specific defective toy (Magnetix building sets by MEGA Brands) that HAS killed one toddler and required 27 OTHER CHILDREN to have intestinal surgery is....**magnets can kill**.

The Chicago Tribune published an extensive special report of the Magnetix debacle in May, 2007, check it out.

If magnets unexpectedly fall out of the ends of the toy pieces, unfortunately kids are more likely than you would imagine to put them in their mouth and swallow. Children of many ages are naturally attracted to small objects and want to experience them, and some thought it was candy! If one magnet is swallowed and then another one a short time later, the magnets probably won't "come out" like small coins but instead will attract powerfuly to eachother, and the extreme force created by a powerful magnet on such a small surface area can pierce the bowel leading to leaking, infection, necrosis and other horrible outcomes.
